summer update: what i’ve been up to…

h e l l o !

I am so sorry that I have been slightly MIA on here for the past couple of weeks. If you follow along with me on Instagram, you know that I have been spending pretty much every weekend at the beach. BUT, I’ve also been working on a bunch of other things, which will be the topic of this post. So, let’s get into what I’ve been up to so far this summer… (I apologize in advance for the hodge podge of photos)

While at the beach, I’ve been working a lot on my bracelets. Side note: if you would like a bracelet please let me know! I charge about $15 per bracelet, depending on the size of the bead. See the photos below for some of my beaded creations.

Lately, my bracelets have been getting a lot of love, especially from my beach friends. I have loved making these little beaded creations and getting in touch with my creative side. I even created some cute business cards to hand out with my bracelets, which should be arriving by next week (fingers crossed!)

Most of my mornings at the beach have been filled with bike rides in Fenwick with my dad. I have been working on getting back in shape this summer – mostly through staying active and eating healthy. I try to keep my days simple – morning shake with fresh fruit, salad for lunch, and fish / meat for dinner. (A lot different from college food) – this is so ironic because as I type this I have been snacking on chocolate sooo obviously I still splurge. But as they say, everything in moderation!

I can’t believe I am typing this but I haven’t even started to shop for our apartment this year! I am going to re-use basically everything from last year since it is all in perfectly good shape, but I also want to pick up a couple of new things. But, don’t worry – I have been shopping for notebooks and stationary all summer! I love finding unique notebooks at Marshalls, TJ Maxx, & Target.

With all this planned (& spontaneous) shopping, it’s a blessing that I have a fun internship this summer! My friend Jenny and I intern at our high school, Mount de Sales, during the week. Jenny is studying Graphic Design at school, so she focuses more on the design aspect of the job, while I work on more of the social media / communications tasks. For instance, I may work on website updates or write articles. My favorite part of the week is Thursdays, when Jenny and I work together. (see photo below) We get to take-over the Instagram and explore the school, featuring our finds on the MDSA Instagram Stories.

I hope that you have been having a great summer too, whether it has been filled with beach trips, adventures, or simply relaxing. Make sure to stay in touch with me through my insta!

product review: Glossier

According to Glossier, “Skin is in…”

And I think that they’re right.

skin is in

Before visiting NYC, I heard countless reviews about Glossier from other bloggers and youtubers, all of them raving about Glossier’s skincare line / products.

“What even is this Glossier,” I thought to myself.

I decided to visit their website and do some research. I was immediately in love with their product design and packaging. (I always appreciate some clean and simple packaging.) This was about a week before we left for NYC, so I was so excited to find out that the Glossier showroom was in lower Manhattan.

Let me tell you, the Glossier showroom is definitely an experience and I loved every minute of it. They don’t call it the most Instagram worthy spot for no reason.

First, all of the workers wear their iconic dusty pink jumpsuit. L O V E it.

Then, they have each product set up and you are able to test every.single.one.

After looking online, I knew that I wanted to try the Milky Jelly Cleanser, Mint Balm Dotcom, and the Super Glow serum. After trying them out at the store, I bought all three and I have been loving them ever since.

three products

The Milky Jelly Cleanser is so light and refreshing. Something I love about their products is that they are multi-purpose. You can pretty much make them what you want them to be. For example, with the Milky Cleanser, you can either use it on dry skin to dissolve makeup, or on wet skin to start the day. I don’t wear much makeup, so I use it more as a cleanser to start my day and feel refreshed. Even better, it is gentle on your eyes because it is made out of the same ingredients found in contact lens solution. Overall 10/10.

Mint Balm Dotcom is just as amazing as the cleanser. I love a lip balm that leaves my lips feeling cool and moisturized, and this product does just that. You can use any of the balm dotcoms on your lips or anywhere that needs some moisturizing, such as your cuticles. Balm Dotcom is available in the following flavors: cherry, original, rose, mint, coconut, and their new flavor ~ BIRTHDAY ~

Saving the best for last with the Super Glow serum. This serum is designed with Vitamin C (brightens) and Magnesium (energizes). Glossier totally understands our problems with this product line. Their three serums are made to lift us on our dullest days. You can choose from Super Glow (for when you’re feeling dull), Super Bounce (for when you’re feeling dry), and Super Pure (for when you’re feeling stressed). Honestly, I think we could all invest in one of these to help brighten our mood on our most stressful days. I love the way that Super Glow absorbs into my skin with its water like texture. It always leaves my skin feeling vibrant and refreshed.

As if that’s not enough to convince you to try out Glossier, their products come in reusable pink pouches with adorable sticker packs. The pouches are so popular that they sell them separately online! I have been reusing mine as travel pouches to carry my Glossier products on-the-go.

Overall, I highly recommend trying out Glossier. Everything about their products is unique and innovative, whether it be their packaging, design, purpose, or ingredients.

travel series: nyc

Hello & happy summer! Hopefully, if you are reading this, you are already done with school or almost finishing up with finals.

photo with text that reads, "travel series: nyc"

If you follow along with my personal insta account, you know that I have been doing quite a bit of traveling (a lot for me, that is). We recently went to new york city for Memorial Day Weekend. We spent four days in the city and explored various areas, such as brooklyn and soho.

I decided I would make this post more photo based, because, what better way to show our explorations on this trip than through photos! This post is the first of a travel series, as I will continue to share my favorite spots / moments after various trips.

Keep reading to see more of my trip to nyc…

ballerina sculpture

// we practically walked into this sculpture. This awesome art installation is in Rockefeller Center. Read more about it here. (We didn’t have much time to explore our first day since our train got in later that afternoon)

pressed juicery storefront

// day two was spent exploring the streets of soho. Pressed Juicery is a quaint and trendy shop with yummy pressed juices. Two words = fresh and simple.

up close of bulb lights

// it’s basically inevitable that we end up eating at Shake Shack at least once during our trip. However, my brother and tour guide in one led us to Soho Park – a hip, trendy, and delicious burger find. Better yet, they are much cheaper than Shake Shack!

ivy and lights strung in walkway

// if you’re looking for the perfect photo-op, head to Nomo Soho. This hip and trendy hotel has the coolest spots for photos. Their archway is ~ magical ~

mirror pic of girl with peace sign

// I always love going to Brandy Melville, so I had to include this pic! They are pretty strict with taking photos in the store so I snapped this mirror pic instead. Head to their online store to see their clothing selection.

soho buildings

// always love the buildings of soho

girl taking photos in crowded side street

// shoutout to mama auer for taking this shot! One of our favorite parts about soho are the unexpected finds within the side streets. There are so many photo-ops if you just remember to look up at the buildings.

storefront - by Chloe.

// before leaving soho we stopped in by Chloe for a quick bite to eat. I had been wanting to go here for so long because all of my bloggers and youtubers always rave about this place. It’s hip, trendy, and has plenty of healthy options to choose from. My dad isn’t the biggest fan of vegan style foods so he got a smoothie while my mom and I got avocado toast. TBH I enjoyed my dad’s smoothie more than the avo toast. The toast came with seasonal veggies on top, which happened to be peas and pickled onions. It wasn’t even photo worthy (and that says a lot!) The morale of the story is, I wish I had opted for a smoothie or one of their other options, but it was still tasty. I will def try again…

// this is the second time that I have walked the Brooklyn Bridge, and it seems like each time just gets better and better. It was an overcast day, but the views were still breathtaking.

// this coffee shop – FEED – was basically my mom’s dream store. She had been looking at it on insta and was so excited that we happened to find it. Check out their site (linked above) to learn more about their mission and story.

One Girl Cookies window

// my DREAM – One Girl Cookies…literally so good – if you happen to go here while in Dumbo, try one of their whoopie pies. They are delicious and totally worth every calorie. Of course, you can get coffee too, or a cupcake…or one of each! 🙂

// we spent our last morning in the city walking the High Line. It has plenty of photo ops and awesome spots to sit and relax.

madewell storefront

// almost immediately after walking across the High Line, we managed to find Madewell! I always love Madewell’s décor and storefront, but this particular store was amazing. I think I was focused more on the interior of the store than the clothes!

I hope you enjoyed this post ! Let me know about your thoughts on the layout of this post. I wanted it to be more of a travel diary with a greater focus on the photos and less on the text.

ALSO check out my friend Maddy’s blog! She recently started it and I loooove it. Seriously so cute.

ps – you should really check out Glossier. I went to their showroom while in soho and it was one of the coolest experiences. All of my youtubers (it should be noted that “my youtubers” = beauty and fashion vloggers / bloggers) rave about Glossier. Also, their packaging is beautifulllll. Probably gonna blog about them soon.
